Brief History of the Walla Walla Valley Early Learning Coalition
The coalition was founded in 2006 by 4 people with varied backgrounds from business, preschool management, k-12 education and parenting and early childhood education. Their main goal was to raise awareness around the importance of children’s development from birth to five and to connect everyone involved in young children’s lives around this common theme. In 2009, with grants from local funders, they were able to hire a program coordinator. With a full time staff person, the coalition developed the original strategic framework and began holding regular meetings with agencies, individuals and organizations who had the common interest of promoting early learning and coordinating services for children and families.
